Saddle Up, Campers!
Whether a camper is curious or in love with horses, the equestrian program offered at Raspberry Ridge Farms is guaranteed to delight.
We have about 20 school horses and ponies, many of which we have raised ourselves. They range from small ponies to large Warmbloods and Thoroughbreds, and lovely horses in between. The horses and ponies are happy and well taken care of, and enjoy camp as much as we do!
Children can hug a donkey, friendly goat or sheep, or help collect fresh eggs in the morning. They will discover artistic talents during our arts and crafts time. Most of all, they will have fun!
The Raspberry Ridge day camp program runs weekly from 9AM-5PM on Monday to Thursday. On Friday, campers put on a show for family members! The show starts at 3PM and we are usually wrapped up by 4PM.
Camp riding lessons are tailored to the individual level of the riders.
Riders can expect to learn how to safely catch and lead the horse, learn to groom and tack up independently, and of course learn to ride!
Campers also get to learn how to look after the animals by helping with feeding and daily chores.
Off-horse activities include learning the breeds, colours and markings, basic horse anatomy, styles of riding, naming parts of the saddle and bridle, etc. With daily crafts and games, campers are definitely never bored!
Friday afternoon show for parents. Campers will show off their horse and everything they learned during the week!
Best of all, riders are sure to meet old friends and new.
What To Wear & Bring
All riders must wear a proper riding helmet.
Riders must bring and wear low-heeled footwear, with a defined heel- 1/2”- 1 1/2″.
We recommend that riders wear loose-fitting pants with some stretch i.e. track pants, tear-away pants, leggings.
Gloves are also recommended, especially for children. Stretchy dollar store gloves will protect little hands from the reins.
For safety reasons NO ONE WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO RIDE IN SHORTS, DRESSES, RUNNING SHOES OR SANDALS!
Please pack a lunch and snacks. Help us reduce garbage at the farm – use reusable containers!
Bring a refillable water bottle. Our summers are hot and we want everyone to stay hydrated.
Sunscreen & Sun Hat
Please ensure that children are well rested and eat a hearty breakfast before arriving at camp!
