For information on what to bring please refer to the What to Bring page
What not to bring…
Cell phones, Walkmans, portable radios, televisions or similar are not permitted. Similarly, please do not send your camper with chocolate bars, chips, candies or similar snack foods as long experience has taught us that they cause disruption among the campers, and affect mealtime appetites and energy levels. We do have a drink canteen available, however, and children may be sent with $5.00 or less per week for this purpose. We have a very nutritious menu planned for camp that you are welcome to review upon arrival.
Mail and telephone calls…
Overnight campers love mail! To ensure delivery, use priority post (2-day delivery from any major centre). Or send mail in advance of your camper’s session (Allow five to seven days delivery for regular mail). Telephone calls to overnight campers are discouraged. They tend to cause homesickness…a contagious condition! Don’t stress that your child can be "rescued" as this prevents the child from dealing with his or her feelings. Suggest that your child talk to a counselor instead. You can feel free to contact me at any time to see how your child is coping. We can return messages during the evening. We print off e-mail every couple of days, but please note that your children are not allowed to use the office computer to return e-mail.
Health and medical
Please discuss your child’s special medical needs with the camp director upon arrival or send a written note. When it is necessary to send medication, clearly label the container with the child’s name and medication instructions and provide it to the camp director for storage. DO NOT send medication with your child to be self-administered.
Camp Fees
Please remember that the full payment of your child’s camp fees must be received prior to the start of his or her camp session. Payments made less than two weeks prior to the session must be by cash or certified cheque.
A Reading List for Horse-Crazy Kids
If you have (or are) a horse-crazy kid that wants
to get a head start on camp this year, this is a list of recommended reading:
- Horsepower or Young Rider Magazine
- The Pony Club Manual of Horsemanship
- Threshold Picture Guides: #6 -- Colours and Markings, #21—Grooming, #22—The Outdoor Pony
** Please note**
By law and for their own safety, children not
wearing proper footwear
will not be allowed to ride!
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to call me at any time. See you at camp!
Sincerely,
Cheryl Spencer
