The children may or may not have the same horse for the week. They often want to try other horses, or may like one horse for the lesson and one for the hack. We will have a maximum of 12 campers, some day and some overnight. We may have two or three groups of lessons each day. The owner has been teaching for over 20 years. Our other counselors have been riding for eight years or more and are experienced with children. Three of our instructors grew up with us and have been through our counselor-in-training program. Since we are only offering two weeks of overnight camp this year, expect that they will fill up early. Program dates and Registration info
We offer a Victorian farm house with 2-4 children per room, each in their own single bed. We have had children from many countries around the world, and many children have come year after year. For nine years we offered overnight camp throughout the summer. Last year we offered only March Break overnight plus day summer camp. This year we are offering March break, plus two spring weekends, plus one week each in July and August. Campers may be 7-16 for overnight camp, but are typically 9-14 years old. Camp and farm pictures.
Meals for overnight campers are home cooked and include such dinners as:
Lasagne or spaghetti, salad, garlic bread plus dessert. Juice and milk.
Baked chicken, potatoes, vegetables, carrots and dip, dessert. Juice and milk.
Pizza, veggies and dip, pasta salad, dessert. Juice and milk.
All breakfast and dinner meals have fruit juices and milk. Lunches are typically three types of sandwiches, fruit, cookies and fruit drink. Breakfasts are three cereal choices, two bread choices ie toast, bagels, English muffins or muffins, milk or juice, fruit slices or fruit salad. Children may also be offered French toast or pancakes or eggs. Vegetarian or other dietary considerations are available upon request.
Day campers bring their own packed lunch. We ask that the lunches be garbage-free, if possible, so that the lunch containers are re-useable and good for the environment, and there will be less chance of an animal choking on stray lunch wrappers. See Letter to Parents and What to Bring to Camp
